How is Hash Made?
There are a few different methods for making hash, but they all involve separating the resin from the plant material and then pressing it into a solid form. Here are the main ways to make hash:
- Dry Sift Hash: Made by mechanically agitating the cannabis flowers inside a mesh tumbler to separate the trichomes from the plant matter, resulting in a golden powder called kief.
- Ice Water or Bubble Hash: Produced using ice water and agitation to separate the trichomes from the plant material. It is usually made in washing machine type of device The mixture is then filtered through bags with different micron sizes to collect trichomes. - Rosin Hash: A solventless extraction technique that uses heat and pressure to squeeze the Cannabinoids out from the cannabis flowers. It can also be made out of Ice water hash for a better yield and efficient process.
- Charas: A traditional hand-rolled hash made in India, Nepal, Afghanistan by rubbing fresh cannabis flowers between the hands to collect the resin. Usually resulting in a ball type of shape that can often being called Temple Balls.
Once the trichomes have been collected, it is usually pressed into a solid form. This can be done by hand or with a machine like a hydraulic press. Hash can be stored and aged in its pressed form, whether it’s a ball or a slab.
